Vincerò | Sorrento, 2025

There was great excitement right from the opening minutes of the Vincerò recital, staged by the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation to mark the first event of the year celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Maestro's birth.   The show opened with a touching narration: a long letter addressed to little Alice, ideally written by Luciano Pavarotti through the pen of writer Grazia Verasani. The text took the audience on an emotional journey through time, retracing the most significant stages of an extraordinary career, rich in successes and anecdotes that contributed to building the myth of Pavarotti, a global icon of opera. The story also highlighted Maestro's most intimate and affectionate side, deeply connected to his roots.

The role of narrator was assigned to Paolo Cresta who, with great sensitivity and professionalism, gave voice to this biographical journey, alternating with performances by tenors Oronzo D’Urso and Giuseppe Infantino, baritone Ettore Lee and sopranos Iolanda Massimo and Giulia Mazzola, accompanied on the piano by Maestro Paolo Andreoli. The pieces performed retraced the most significant musical moments of Pavarotti’s beloved repertoire, arousing emotion and open applause. The songs performed retraced the most significant musical moments from Pavarotti’s beloved repertoire, arousing emotion and widespread applause.

The recital took place in the new hall of the Teatro Tasso in Sorrento, packed with an attentive, engaged and enthusiastic audience, who followed the entire evening with deep involvement. Numerous rounds of applause marked the evocative power of the story and the beauty of the arias performed.

At the end of the event, after sincere and heartfelt thanks from the President of the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation, Nicoletta Mantovani, the audience was treated to several encores and an unreleased version of the immortal “Caruso”, a song that originated in Sorrento.

Among the authorities and supporters present in the hall were Rossella Di Leva, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Sorrento, Rino Pinto, General Coordinator of the Tasso Theatre, and Flavia Matriaciano, General Director of the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation, the beneficiary of the entire proceeds of the evening, including ticket sales and spontaneous donations.

Also present were Lidia Fiorentino and Guido Fiorentino of the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, which hosted a closing toast to thank all those who contributed to the success of the event.

In conclusion, Nicoletta Mantovani said:

“I am very happy: the year dedicated to Luciano’s 90th anniversary could not have started in a better way. In magical Sorrento, in his beloved Campania and with the enthusiasm of the audience he loved so much. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this intense moment of remembrance.”
