Opera Incanto was the event held at Duse Theatre in Bologna on October 28 as the highlight of the special “Duse 200” program celebrating the 200th anniversary of the prestigious Bolognese theatre.
The show (sold out), organized by the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation, presented the most beautiful arias from the bel canto tradition, performed by both established opera voices and young opera talents, to whom the Foundation always offers opportunities for visibility and career.
Special guest on stage was the world-famous tenor Francesco Meli. Alongside him were opera singers: Francesca Tiburzi (soprano), Giulia Mazzola (soprano), Alfonso Zambuto (tenor), Janusz Nosek (baritone), Ana Victoria Pitts (mezzo-soprano) and Cristobal Campos (tenor). At the piano, Maestro Paolo Andreoli, together with the Ensemble Gocce d’Opera.
O mio babbino caro, Una furtiva lagrima, La donna è mobile, Stride la vampa, Tombe degl’avi miei, Che gelida manina, E lucevan le stelle, were some of the pieces performed and literally enchanted the audience.
A tribute was then reserved to Maria Callas, evoking the aria Vissi d’arte performed by the “Divina” in 1950 on the Duse stage and sang by Francesca Tiburzi, who also performed another tribute dedicated to Renata Tebaldi, “Senza mamma”, an emblematic pearl of her repertoire. Other timeless masterpieces from the Mozart/Da Ponte duo were performed and also one of the most famous operas of all time: Carmen by George Bizet, sang by Ana Victoria Pitts.
The audience attended the performances with great participation, demonstrating their appreciation asking the artists numerous encore.
